Celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month with a preview of “Echoes of My Barrio.” In 2025, Tania Vergara traveled to her hometown of Camagüey, where she recorded the calls of the pregoneros — street vendors — who have become essential to the impoverished economy of Cuba. The humble voices of the street reveal the resilience of a people who endure in a spirited, often humorous, and moving performance.
